The 2009 Guardian Gamesblog Chatterbox Awards are here!
- Voting will be based on a secret ballot. Each voter must pick a first, second and third place blogger for each category - apart from the Guardian Columnist category where you just pick one winner
- 5 points will be awarded for a first place vote, 3 for a second and 1 for a third. The winner of each category will be the one with the most points total
- Please do not discuss nominations of the blog - anyone who does this will be excluded from voting
- Votes should be submitted to me (limni69AThotmailDOTcom) by email. You must include your Gamesblog username in the title of the email in the format: Chatterbox Awards Vote: <yournamehere>
- Anyone who doesn't vote for every category will have their email returned and their votes will not be counted until every category has three names. It's a bit like Big Brother - you must nominate.
- Only people who have been commenting on the chatterbox before 13/10/2009 may vote
- Voting opened at 5pm on Friday 16th October and ends at midnight on Friday 18th December. Votes received after this point will not be counted but you may still be charged.
- Since the voting window is now extended and some of you voted a while ago, if you want to change your votes you can send me another email with the title AMENDED Chatterbox Awards Vote: <yournamehere> and I'll just delete the old one, I've not started counting yet.
The categories are as follows:
- Blogger of the Year
- Funniest blogger
- Nicest blogger
- Most informative blogger
- Most off-topic blogger
- The keeping it games related award
- Most irritating blogger
- Most argumentative blogger
- Craziest blogger
- Most improved blogger
- Lifetime achievement award (recognising an outstanding long-term dedication to the quality of chatterboxing)
- Best Newcomer (valid for anyone who's first post in the Chatterbox is after 01/01/2009). Confirmed eligible so far: SuperSmashIn, Gettingnervous, StainlessStyle, FerrisSaved, dylilamma, SirGiggidy, BarryEans, Foolsgold
- Best Avatar
- Best Guardian Gamesblog Columnist
New categories in bold. Want another category added? Chat about it on the Chatterbox. If there seems to be enough agreement I'll add one. No suggestions for "Most likely to forment revolution and rule the resulting police state with an iron fist" and other similar one-horse-race categories. Although that one probably would end as a split vote...
